COUNSELING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Opportunity Resources provides counseling and general mental health services to persons with disabilities. Anne Harris is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor employed by ORI full time to meet the needs of persons with disabilities who may have additional mental health issues. The counseling services provide assistance with mental health issues to individuals, their families and consultations to their provider agencies.

By providing a full-time licensed mental health counselor on staff the counseling services are able to be closely integrated with all aspects of the client’s life. The unique needs of the developmentally delayed client call for this approach to the whole person in order to integrate services throughout the full life spectrum. This means that the counselor is able to visit on-site with the client and their provider team and family at the client’s residence, their workplace, as well as recreational and other community activities.

In addition to general mental health and related behavioral concerns ORI offers a program specifically developed to meet the sexual problem behavior concerns of persons with developmental disabilities and/or brain injuries. ORI provides the following services to persons with problem sexual behaviors:

  • Risk Assessment and treatment planning to ORI clients and clients. Socio-Sexual Risk Assessments are provided on site with an in-vivo approach to look at the whole person and the context in which they live and work;

  • One to one and group counseling provided by our licensed counselor who is a Clinical Member of the Montana Sex Offender Treatment Association (MSOTA);

  • Supervised residential and employment services integrated with the client’s community supervision program; and

  • Coordination for service integration with other community agencies including the justice system.
