RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Residential Support

Residential Support:
Since 1992 Opportunity Resources, Inc. (ORI) has provided Supported Living Services (SLS) for adults who are 16 years or older with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Currently there are approximately 90 individuals receiving services. Individuals receive different levels of support ranging from 4 hours per week to 24 hours per day. At ORI we believe that everyone has the right to live in a home of their choice and receive the best and most suitable support possible.

When desired, participants are assisted in finding a suitable apartment and compatible roommates. Based on a SLS Assessment the participants receive individualized support and have ample learning opportunities both in their apartments and in the community. Services are not time limited. Some people may always need some level of help with, for example, their budgeting or behavioral programs; these people, too, can be successful.

Some of the specialized services we offer to maximize participants’ success include:

  • A Person Centered Plan that emphasizes community presence and participation, developing and maintaining relationships, personal choice and preferences, and community respect;
  • Comprehensive behavior assessments and programs for those with challenging behaviors;
  • Systematic teaching to expand independent life skills required for living in the community and enjoying life;
  • A 24 hour per day on-call telephone line for assistance and emergencies; and
  • Professional management of individuals’ finances through ORI’s Finance Department.

Group Homes & Apartments:
ORI owns and operates four group homes and an apartment complex. Six to eight people live in each group home and fifteen people live in the apartment complex.

Each site has a manager and staff who are trained to provide individualized support to each person in their home. We provide support and training to increase participation in activities of daily living and promote independence. We assist each person in identifying, planning to meet, and accomplishing goals that are aimed at improving their quality of life.

There are two home-based day programs. They provide structured learning in a home environment. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The programs assist with habilitation goals, domestic skills, community integration, volunteer work, and hobbies. Click on the following photos to see larger images:
